SEPI is working to develop a Master Plan for the new Wake Tech facility on an approximately 106-acre site in eastern Wake County.

With a focus on technology-forward education and workforce development programs, Eastern Wake 4.0 is Wake Tech’s newest site along the I-87 / US 64 corridor in Wendell. Eastern Wake 4.0 refers to the term Industry 4.0, a reference to a fourth industrial revolution with the convergence of machines and processes with information and communications technology such as 5G, big data, and cloud computing.

Plans for the 106-acre site include a Tech 4.0 facility supporting smart manufacturing, a Tower Technician apprenticeship program for 5G training, and space for biopharmaceutical programs. The location will also include a Public Safety 4.0 Building with a realistic Simunition Center and Public Safety Driving Track. It will also serve as the new home of the college’s Emergency Management Technician program and state-of-the-art labs for Unmanned Aircraft Systems training. Future development plans include a STEM Building, a Workforce Continuing Education Center, and an Innovation Center. Eastern Wake 4.0 is poised to become the college’s eventual seventh campus, and a hub for educational and industry partnerships.

SEPI is providing master planning, environmental due diligence, site/civil due diligence and preliminary traffic analysis for the master planning process.
