SEPI is assisting NCDOT Division 9 in widening 1.2-miles of two-lane roadway to four-lane median divided roadway with bike lanes and sidewalks from Jake Alexander Blvd to I-85 in Salisbury.

Project tasks included traffic forecast, capacity analysis, roadway engineering and design (from concept through final construction plans), roadway drainage, and environmental planning tasks necessary to produce a SEPA MCDC.

Environmental services include community impact assessment, natural and human environmental impact analysis, public involvement, and natural and water resources permitting. The MCDC was approved in December 2017, Nationwide 401/404 Permit and FEMA Permit (CLOMR & MOA) have been approved, right-of-way is being acquired, and final construction plans are under development.

The project will require the completion of roadway drainage along with both a BSR and CSR. The existing bridge crossing of Town Creek is located in a Detailed Study Area and will require a MOA. The existing culvert crossing at Julian Tributary is part of a Redelineation Study and will also require coordination with the NC Floodplain Mapping Program. SEPI is currently in the design phase and a Hydraulic Technical Memorandum was included in the planning document.
