SEPI is developing a detailed Transportation Feasibility Study for the Town of Cary to evaluate widening 1.5-miles of Green Level Church Road from two-lanes to a four-lane median divided multimodal facility.
SEPI is collecting and evaluating traffic and crash data, generating traffic volume forecast, and preparing a traffic operational analysis under current and future build and no build conditions. The Triangle Regional Model (TRM) is being used in this project as a forecasting tool.
Additional SEPI tasks include an environmental and land use screening to determine potential impacts to the human and natural environment from each alternative, discussion of necessary environmental permits and approvals, and an intensive public involvement process with stakeholder and public meetings because part of the corridor extends through the Green Level National Register Historic District.
SEPI will generate and evaluate conceptual corridor design alternatives that meet the Town’s vision and will provide cost estimates and constructability assessments for each alternative.
