SEPI was contracted by the NCDOT to provide SUE location and mapping along with full planimetric surveying services for 5,500-LF roadway widening on Rockfish Road in Cumberland County.
SUE services included levels D, C, and B for a total of 25,486-LF designated utilities. As part of the level D services, SEPI contacted local municipalities and utility companies to gather utility as-built information for the project area. After the available information was compiled, SEPI conducted a site visit to gather visible utility surface features as part of level C services and coordinated this information with the utility information gathered in the quality level D phase.
The quality level C site visit was used to set up the traffic control plan needed within the project area before starting level B designations. While completing quality level B SEPI also verified the accuracy of utility records gather during quality level D.
Once all the designation had been completed, SEPI’s survey team located all marked utilities to the required accuracy and a CAD file was created that met the NCDOT’s specified standards. designations included:
• 3,566-LF of power owned by Duke Energy
• 11,840-LF of communication line owned by CenturyLink
• 6,784-LF of water owned by Fayetteville PWC
• 2,505-LF of TV cable owned by Charter Communication
• 791-LF of an unknown anomaly within the project area
