The LYNX Blue Line is the first light rail service in the Charlotte metro area. The 18.9-mile long track operates from I-485 at South Blvd to UNC Charlotte’s main campus.

The LYNX Blue Line Extension project spans 9.3-miles from 7th Street Station in Uptown Charlotte through the NoDA (North Davidson) and University areas.

SEPI provided multi-disciplinary services on various stages of the LYNX Blue Line Extension project including surveying, site/civil, traffic engineering, roadway design, bike/pedestrian design, and construction engineering and inspection.

SEPI provided project management and bicycle and pedestrian design services using NACTO guidelines for Segment C of approximately 1.3-miles multi-lane divided roadway on existing alignment of North Tryon Street to provide a corridor for the dual track Light Rail system from Uptown Charlotte to UNC Charlotte.

Our services included roadway and intersection design, traffic control, maintenance of traffic, signing design, pavement markings, sidewalk, and multi-use path design. A significant coordination effort with CATS, NCDOT, and CDOT occurred during the project’s progression.

SEPI also provided preparation of quantities for cost estimate and bidding services for the project.
