Transportation Planner

SEPI Engineering and Construction, Inc. (SEPI) is seeking an experienced Transportation Planner with an entrepreneurial spirit, creating a vision for growth in their personal practice while contributing to the growth of the Planning and Environmental practice within SEPI. The Transportation Planner will be responsible for all aspects of SEPI's GIS, Planning and Environmental projects. This key position will be responsible for managing a wide variety of projects tasks ranging from asset management, corridor planning, bicycle and pedestrian planning, transit planning, land use planning, NEPA/SEPA projects, and public involvement. In addition, this position will be responsible for team management, coordination of tasks, scheduling, and training. SEPI is an entrepreneurial company and supports the growth of our services and the creation of new services as a central theme to our company.

Essential Functions:

    • Transportation Planning, NEPA, SEPA, or Corridor study experience
    • Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail
    • GIS support for traffic noise studies
    • Spatial analysis and cartography
    • Experience with ArcGIS software
    • Develop cartographic products for staff and clients
    • Assist with preparation of items for project public meetings
    • Assist with performing field data collection

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Conform in all respects with applicable federal, state and local laws, regulations, ordinances and other orders and to all company policies, procedures and directives from supervisors
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as required or requested by management
  • Candidate may assist in the preparation of reports, studies, plans, impact analyses, permit applications and other documents
  • Experience in Environmental, Engineering and/or Transportation Planning disciplines preferred

Machines, Tools and Equipment:

  • Operate standard office equipment (i.e., personal computer, scanning, copy machine, etc.)

Education, Training, Experience and Licensing/Certification Requirements:

  • A Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Geography, GIS, Planning, Computer Science, Engineering, or other related program. A Master’s degree is a plus;
  • A minimum two (2) years of relevant experience; and
  • Experience preparing GIS products in accordance with DOT standards and guidance principles

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Must be highly detail oriented and possess excellent organizational skills;
  • Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks as assigned;
  • Must communicate well with others; and
  • Must be able to work independently and manage time wisely.

Physical/Mental Demands:

  • Talk, hear, use hands and fingers to handle or feel, stoop, kneel, crouch, reach
  • Ability to lift/push/pull up to 10-15 pounds occasionally

Working Conditions:

  • Travel via automobile and work in field environment 10% of the time.
  • Work in indoor office environment 90% of the time.
  • Moderate noise level
