Accountant/Project Accountant

To establish, maintain and monitor individual project financial activity. An emphasis will be placed on contract adherence, monthly billing and revenue recognition along with monthly and quarterly project reconciliations. Daily accounting tasks such as monitoring and recording of bank activities including deposits and disbursements. Must be detail oriented and committed to deadlines.

Essential Functions:

  • Help maintain project info center records in Deltek Vision.
  • Support Project Management and Finance Staff in all requested project reporting when needed.
  • Assist Accounting Manager/Supervisor(s) in creation and distribution of monthly invoicing reports as well as creation and submittal of final invoices to clients.
  • Work closely with service line manager and admin to create moderate state contract invoicing packages on multiple projects.
  • Ability to organize and review moderate amounts of back-up including timesheets, subcontractor invoices and vendor reimbursables.
  • Able to manipulate large manual Excel invoice spreadsheets and work within client schedule delivery deadlines.
  • Calculate and prepare client billings.
  • Reconcile assigned general ledger accounts.
  • Input transactions into Deltek Vision at direction of Controller or Accounting Manager/Supervisor.
  • Prepare journal entries as needed.
  • Preparation of quarterly sales tax returns by city/count and submittal of sales taxes on-line.
  • Preparation of annual Property Tax Returns.
  • Preparation of ACH/wire transactions on Bank website.
  • Format and manipulate Excel worksheets for accounting entries.
  • Assist or prepare reports at direction and analysis of Controller or Accounting Manager/Supervisor.
  • Help with audit preparation for the year end audit.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Conform in all respects with applicable federal, state and local laws, regulations, ordinances and other orders and to all company policies, procedures and directives from supervisors.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as required or requested by management.

Machines, Tools and Equipment:

  • Operate standard office equipment (i.e., Adding machine, personal computer, facsimile, copy machine, etc.)

Education, Training, Experience and Licensing/Certification Requirements:

  • 2 year or 4 year Degree with concentration in accounting/finance/economics is required.
  • One (1) to three (3) years’ experience in an accounting role is required.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Must be very proficient in Microsoft Excel and manipulating data.
  • Knowledge of SAP Concur Expense management system preferred.
  • Must be highly detail oriented and possess excellent organizational skills.
  • Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks as assigned.
  • Must communicate well with others.
  • Must be able to work independently and manage time wisely.
  • Deltek Advantage/Vision/ experience preferred but not necessary.
  • Prior engineering/architectural consulting experience preferred but not necessary.


Physical/Mental Demands:

  • Talk, hear, use hands and fingers to handle or feel, stoop, kneel, crouch, reach.
  • Ability to lift/push/pull up to 15 pounds occasionally.

Working Conditions:

  • Work in indoor office environment 90% of the time.
  • Moderate noise level.
  • Travel via automobile on occasion as needed.
